I considered that too, after I wrote my post... That a "thesis" can be much more than just a research paper...

Well, not 500 pages and not a whole year - but 1 semester to be correct... That's 5-6 months - and you have your personal advisors (usually two) - and you depending on which field of study you're at - you will present your work as either a lecture or you will pretend to be "teaching" it in class or whatever...

So I wouldn't call it a term-paper, because that would be very different...

It's more like a large scale project - but with a thesis (in the literary sense of the word)...

So you changed your avatar too, ha? hahaha I love wolves, that is why my avatar has a wolf on it. I do not have any pets, but if I could choose any pet in the universe...the top two choices would be either a feline ( bigger cat) or a wolf.
I look forward to learning many things from you Nuray. By the way, I believe we say "tava heyve" in Behdini, but I am sure there is a more appropriate word for it.

@ Diri, I believe that depending on the school one goes, things change variably. Usually state dependent universities are a bit more relaxed than privately owned or regulated universities. In a sense though, after you have explained your (Nordic System?) form of graduate thesis, ours(USA) parallels to it very closely. Some students teach in some of our universities as well, but my knowledge of it is not that good, and only a few of my friends have actually taken that route. I am not worried about it, and since I do not want to study accounting or mathematical theories, I believe I am safe from the thesis idea now.


@ Nuray, sopas xuishka berez. Regarding wolves...I know the theory behind gray wolves and Turkish Nationalism. However, my love for the animal itself is more than the idea of the relationship between the gray wolf and Turks. Nationalism aside, I have no problem with Turkish people, their customs, heritage, history, culture or language. As long as no one provokes me, I am peaceful...but cross that line and there is bound to be shattered hopes and dreams.
My favorite animal from the feline family is actually the black Jaguar. Since I do not believe in domesticating animals, I have never been to the zoo and therefore never seen one in real life.
What about you? do you have any favorite animals?

@ Proud, lol. there is a saying in Kurdi= Denge dihole ji duirve xweshe! I guess things really do look greener on the other side. I always hear nice things about Dallas, San Diengo and other Kurdish populated cities...the people that live in those cities though...have the same lamentations as do in Nashville.

my favorite bigger cat is the lion. for the small, the van cat. do you think it wrong to have a domesticated cat when someone let it go outside and stay inside too? i have a persian cat and let go her go outside when she wants to. also she has funny name cause of person on another forum use handle after jazz musician satchmo and he does not like cats. i posted thread at that forum asking what they thought is good name for a cat. satchmo said 'whatever you do do not name it satchmo' so i then decide to name her satchmomaloos. maloos mean soft,pretty.

Regarding the Turkish issue...honestly there are good and bad people everywhere. My own personal policy on likes and dislikes is to judge each person based on the character of his personality and not condemn everyone.
Regarding the zoo, I dislike imprisonment of any sort, and animals have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as well as humans do.
I do not think it is right or wrong to have a cat, I just cannot make myself do it. A lot of people have pets, it is what they choose to do. I, on the other hand choose to not domesticate any animal to my house. It reminds me too much of slavery for some reason, I think I must have been an animal in a past life.

My family was feeding a stray cat last year, but it was not a house cat and it was living outside. It was really old though and it passed away a few months ago. My sister was so in love with that cat, she has it buried in our back yard, complete with a tombstone and flowers.

sometimes we forget simple rules. treat others as you want to be treated. I believe that in our case with the Turkish government, this rule is omitted, which is why so many Kurds have bitter feelings towards Turks. I have had almost three years of experience with their brutality during the time that we lived in a refugee camp in Mardin. I guess since we treated like caged animals, I do not want to keep animals domesticated. No one and no living being should have to be treated like that.
