Women and the Peshmerga Forces

PostAuthor: Dilsad » Sat Jun 25, 2005 4:19 pm

Hi everyone,

May be this question will sound ignorant to a lot of you who know, but is there any women in the Peshmerga forces?
All I know is that there were A LOT of women figthers in the Gerila. In fact there are full "division" only made up of women in the Gerila forces.

Does anyone knows why? Becasue I have never seen any pictures.

How many female peshmerga fighters exist in southern Kurdistan?

(Komala in eastern Kurdistan has female fighters too, btw. PKK was already mentioned.)

I have no numbers - but I do know that the lady on the bottom picture is part of a bataljon (all women) who are securing the road to Mosul - I think it is clearly stated in the article if you care to read Berxwdan... And OF course... There are women fighting along side men in our struggle to FREE Kurdistan... What else are they gonna fight for? An free and democratic Iran/Turkey/Syria/Iraq????? HELL NO! Mothers have lost their children because they have believed in INDEPENDENCE AND NATIONAL UNITY!

This is why it angers me to hear about Kurds who are "content" with ONLY being a part of Turkey/Iran/Iraq/Syria... These people haven't gotten the point yet... :?

Hey Diri,

why getting so angry man, I don't even know who you are responding to.
But it seems that when Berxwedan come and say something you just jump on his throat. Again I am new on this forum and you two guys may have had a long history...but I don't get it, why are you getting so angry

He is just angry that it looks like Kurds don't fight anymore for indepence.. although it looks for me this way.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Sorry - I meant on the other topic - I should have said that... My bad - but hope she read it anyway...

Anyway - Yeah Welatêmîr is right - that is what I am angry with... There is no honour in going from "Independence for Kurdistan" to "Freedom for Turkey"... If you see what I mean... In the end it will always be TURK - ey... not KURD -ey... So no point in wasting time on HELPING building the ENEMY'S country - that way the enemy will be strong and hinder our ultimate goals - Freedom for Kurdish, Kurds and Kurdistan - To fight for human rights in Turkey/Iran/Iraq/Syria is as hopeless as hoping there will be some water to dringk in HELL...

When Kurdistan is FREE - all human rights will follow - KURDISTAN MEANS FREEDOM OF ALL SORT!
