Ok, maybe it's bullshit what I'm saying. I do only speak from my own observation and experience with other Kurds.

You have a very good point.

But I do speak from my own observation and experience with other Kurds.

Genetically speaking all Kurds from all parts are very close to each other. So close that we can speak about 1 Kurdish race. So there're no big differences between Kurds.

But I still don't understand the openmindest about mixing of some Southern Kurds. I know few people from Suli that don't mind to mix with Arabs.
I do even know a great very patriotic Kurdish fella (with very light features) from Kirkuk who is married with a Turkmen woman. I don't understand this!

Such folks don't mind to mix with Arabs or Turkmen . But they and their children are very patriotic and true Kurds. So I'm not complaining, just wondering!

We could do racial laws, but I think we'd be labelled as the racists of the middle-east.

So what everybody already is hating us. With or without mixing, nothing will change on our unpopularity in the region!

Hmm, maybe is apartheid in Kurdistan not a bad thing to teach our enemies a lesson. Just joking!

Btw, there's some kind of apartheid in Israel and the Arabs don't like that! It is better than assimilation into foreign cultures.

ideas wrote:Southern Kurds may have mixed the most, however we have always been the biggest advocates of Kurdish nationalism, for example i'm 50% Kurdish, 25% Jewish and 25% Assyrian, but I'm a nationalist Kurd and don't care about the other parts of my roots (other than them having equal rights), I don't understand why we Southern Kurds are being accused of mixing too much because as far as I'm aware there are many Kurdish-Turkish families in Turkey, the same goes for eastern Kurdistan, many Kurds married to Azeris.

Don't forget that nearly 30% of the Southern Kurdish population was Jewish! only a small percentage of them left to Israel, the rest with time converted to Islam and mixed in with the other Kurdish population (i.e. my grandfather!) and believe me, my grandfather although Jewish was a very nationalist Kurd, he had many sons on purpose and made them all peshmergas.

Actully no, the E.K kurds marries persians more common, as do the kurds in North with turks.

Yes I get , but observation has to be based on a model and in this case it does not exist . I mean we do not know how a Kurd "pure Kurd " looked like a thousand year ago , so how can we tell this is pure and this is not . the logic here is flaw .

Genetics in the the case of " kurdishness " is irrelevent would not you agree ? if it is ( which it is ), it should be totally ignored unless it is for research or scientific purposes .

As a nationalist I totally agree with you , but it does happen often .

hewraman, i think the hewramnis are the purest by genetic, culture, language, religion etc. They are the ones who have preserved the kurdish culture. Kurmanji is very mixed with turkish, while sorani is aswell pretty much mixed with sassani. Anyway if you compare kurds to persian, the persian became much more mixed with arabs. During the mongols invasion, the mongols got very mixed with persian but when it came to the kurds we lived all in tribes. So we didn't become mixed that much. During the mongols invasion there were kurdish tribes that went so far to algeria.

Thats very untrue and false to say they are the "purest". I don't know where you get these genetic results from to say their the purest. Anyways amongst every Kurdish tribes there are variations.

Theres nothing wrong with preservationism in my opinion, its done even in western countries. I'm not saying we go all Nazi germany, but we have a distinct culture and even racial characteristcs that we should preserve.

I don't have any genetic results that they are the purest but isn't it logical? They are the one with the purest kurdish language, kurdish culture etc. They are the ones who have preserved the kurdish identity 100% pure, compared to other kurdish tribes. Self , the clan or tribe i have roots from is originated from todays kermanshan. Which name i forgot.

"kurmanji is very mixed turkish" this is very wrong. dont forget, zaxo duhok amediya urmiye speak also kurmanji. and few turkish mix came into kurdish in north just after 1950's. excluding these loadwords there are almost no turkish, only maybe one word "qîz" what means daughter, wich the original in kurmanji is "dot"(stil used).

sassani is persian. all kurdish languages have big persian influence, excluding hewramî and kirdkî(zazakî), but all kurdish languages and dialects have their own conservative features. example, kurmanji and zazaki have lost personal inclitics (-m, -t, i or sh, man, tan, yan/shan) and they have bevared 2 groups of personal pronouns (example: ez=I, min=me/mine/my) while the other languages have lost their but bevared personal inclitics.

agree, but 1/200 of the world population have ghengis khan in their ancestry  and i gues 1/20 of persian population have ghengic khan as ancestry

i dont believe purity, there are nothing thing such us cleaner kurdish race. all kurds look very close to each compared to turkish, arab and persian neighbours. i can see many people here in europe in their face that they are kurds from central anatolia or from south kurdistan.

But why when i look at kurmanji education book, i see so big differences since it's 2 different dialetcs. It's not 2 different languages. I mean very typical words, like hin and so on. Otherwise i agree.

Hewramis are "purer" as some others but not the purest. All Kurdish areas are somehow mixed but The purest might be living somewhere in Central Kurdistan and Yezidis. However we are more homogeneous as Turks, Armenians, Persians and Arabs. Soran Speakers are not "mixed" with Sassanians cause Sassanians were a dynasty not a people.

Yes, Sorani is mixed with sassani, i didn't say sassanian dynasty. How can sassanians be an dynasty and not a people even in an grammatical way? You missunderstood me. I mean the language, not the people.
