Police Raid HDP offices in Istanbul

Turkish security forces conducted a search operation overnight Sunday on the pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) in Istanbul.

According to the information obtained by BasNews, three HDP offices in Esenyurt, Bahçelievler and Avcılar districts of Istanbul were raided by the Turkish police, claiming that the city is under threat of bomb attacks.

HDP Co-chair of Esenyurt office, Muhammad Karadag, criticised the action and said the Turkish security forces should have informed the PYD offices prior to the operation.

However, Karadag continued, the forces found nothing suspicious in the offices, but they took some papers to claim “their raid was not for vain.”

He insisted that attacking a political party’s office for alleged terrorist activities, and without prior notification, is an “inappropriate action.”
