PKK sents hitsquads after the PWD

The PKK’s response to being confronted by a democratic opposition despite it being largely formed of ex-members has been to draw up a death list containing the names of the PWD’s most critical voices and to send out hit squads after them across northern Iraq condemning them as “agents and traitors”. In October 2004, Sipan Rojhilat, an Iranian Kurd who fled the PKK was killed and in February 2005, Kemale Sor, a Syrian Kurd who had also fled the organisation was killed. Seven people connected with the PKK/Kongra-Gel were arrested in Iraqi Kurdistan and will now stand trial. Death orders were again reiterated at the PKK’s conference last month. Despite this, the Turkish authorities continue to pursue both groups and various other individuals and groups who are again calling for an end to violence between them and constructive dialogue.

Well it is a old PKK tradition... since the beginning they kill their opponents or members "out of the Line" or those who had done something against their discipline (for example relations between men/women). Though they say for 10 years that they have changed, they don't. They claim democracy democracy but i doubt that they have the slightest idea what democracy means. If they harm Kurds as much as Turks, how could they call pro-Kurdish fighters ? BTW more and more Kurds in Turkey are fed up with them.

Yes, your remarks are quite accurate PILING - I am astonished... Where are you from? Aren't you from Northern Kurdistan? Well - even more the reason for you to see the facts as they are... I support those words... PKK has a long way to go - because from what they do today they are no better than the Turkish state - in my oppinion - They kill those they call "traitors" and they have a military rule... Also they have no respect for the will off the people...

What is interesting is that the south east part of Northern Kurdistan - All the way to Amed and Wan are all kalling Mesûd their president... People are really fed up with the empty rhetoric of the PKK...

lol I'm French and without any Kurdish origins even if I speak kurmancî fluently but I know very well Kurdistan in Turkey and Syria and I know a lot concerning the PKK.

Obviously, you've read my opinions regarding the current policies of the PKK, but I think we should be careful not to give up on it completely. I have been giving some thought to this. It is not in the Kurdish people's best interest to be left without a party and vulnerable to the designs of the Turkish state. While the KDP offers perhaps a new beginning to the Southern Kurds, realistically speaking, their influence in Northern Kurdistan will be limited -- if not the PKK, Turkey will not allow their influence to spread. KDP does not seem willing to risk all they have worked for in order to attempt to gain greater influence among the Kurds of Turkey.

It is not even an ideal situation for the PKK to weaken and fracture, as this only weakens the resistance movement of an entire people. The Kurdish people are stronger united under one movement, even if that movement falters or goes through a difficult period. The PWD offered hope to create a dialogue within the PKK to seriously question the policy of following Apo's orders from prison. Unfortunately, the PWD was too weak to bring about any change.

Even if you are critical of the policies, I would hope there are other options than disengaging from the PKK completely.

What I am saying is that people in Northern Kurdistan are with their own initiative taking sides with KDP... KDP oen't need to try to spread it's influence - it is spreading by the hour... People see that the PKK is now diminished to a few people who are bitter to the Turkish state... They show it an a bad way... They should have done these "uprisings" which they are doing today in 1991... They had SUCH good oppertunuties then... Now - they don't even desire Freedom and Federalism - they just want their cultural rights - THAT can be given to them by any politican... So why fight if that is all they desire?

They should keep their ambitions - They are not in the same positions as South Kurdistan - where they do politics... they should speak freely about their demands - only shocking and revealing stories are ever broadcasted by News agencies... APO saying " I am a Kurd - give me a Kurdish translator" would have made the whole difference... Then the whole world was watching... And he could have done greater than EVEN Leyla Zana...

And he said "I am sorry for all the pain I have caused Turkey, I am Turkish too - Excuse me"... Like as if... Had he died at the Hands of Turkey he would have MEANT more.. now he is just holding onto his life... If he cared for Kurdistan he would sacrefice all - what has he got left anyway???

Concerning the translation in French of Mem and Zîn it was an awfull hard job but I was very happy to achieve it, I adore this old sufi poetry.
