I never said that the Armenians can claim no credit for this animal. I'm aware of their presence in the area. I just said that they unfortunately like to seize everything with no regard to other natives aswell, the case here being Kurds. Changing this mentality would be a first step in a long list of amendments which they need to implement if they wish to see any respectful attitude from our part. With the current way they're going, it will be a matter of time before they start placing Glendale on their map.

Out of topic but interesting.

stelae of Mithraism. Take a close look on the animals depicted on it. Snakes and on the right corner something like a chicken or peacock.

stelae of Yezidis. I see legs made out of Snakes and a peacock on the top of the stelae.

We all know the importance of Snakes in Yazdanism.

Snake at the door of the Sheikh-Adi-shrine in Lalish. In Mithraism, snakes represent the orbit of the sun and the moon. In Yezidism the black snake is sacred and represents good men.

This stelae is Scythian goddess 'Api'!

And if there're similarities between Scythian mythology and the Yezidism then Scythians got it from the Kurds and not vice versa!

Scythian goddess Api: Goddesses from Scythia, along the Black Sea coast, were often shown with the wings and tail of a bird. As such, they may have been the origin of the Sirin figures. In some cases they were used as standards carried at the head of armies in battle, and thus related to the ‘winged victories’ found later in Greece.

This has nothing to do with the Yezidis, IMO!

good to know. Dont you find it interesting that he has a peacock on his head and snakes as his legs? This are the same symbols you find in yazdanism.

Very interesting but not very unexpected / surprising, because Scythians were Iranic folks that spoke an Iranic language!
