ERBIL, June 3 (AKnews) - The withdrawal of confidence from PM Maliki's government has become a popular demand to end the era of dictatorship that has affected Iraq negatively and isolated it from its regional and international surrounding, said Iraqiya List leader Saleh al-Mutlaq.
Mutlaq explained in a statement today: "The period after the departure of Maliki and dictatorship is inevitable, and what some of the media associated with the prime minister's office, including al-Iraqiya official TV, as well as a few MPs who have became preachers, say about the dangers of withdrawal of confidence from Maliki is baseless.
"The presence of Maliki as PM will endanger the national unity and lead to the partition of the country and the continuation of financial and administrative corruption and more human rights violations. So we call on all political forces about the need to take moral and constitutional responsibility and unite together to withdraw confidence from Maliki and end the growing dictatorship in Iraq."
The semi-official Iraqiya TV quoted Mutlaq in the news today as saying that: "The withdrawal of confidence from Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki may drag Iraq into a civil war."
Iraqiya, the Sadrist Movement and the Kurdish Blocs Coalition collected the signatures of 164 MPs to withdraw confidence from Maliki's government.
In a press conference Maliki called on all political parties to discuss the country's political problems within the framework of the national conference President Talabani called for.
Mutlaq is also the head of the Iraqi National Dialogue Front.
