I made one the last Easter Day. We have eaten it cold with a lemon-parsley cold cream. Such pies are eaten slightly warm or cold.

Your Pie looks much more tasty :ymapplause:

If Kurds bought one of these old towers and declared independence they would have LOTS and LOTS of excellent publicity :ymapplause:

If NK Kurds stopped watching Turkish TV and united to save, what is probably the MOST IMPORTANT part of Kurdish heritage, HASANKEYF, they would receive LOT of POSITIVE PUBLICITY :ymapplause:

It was 24c and still breezy - the forecasters keep mentioning thunder storms but they have not arrived YET :-\

Going to be even hotter tomorrow :ymparty:

I always thought that it must be lovely to live in Paris, such a romantic place with it's river, pavement cafes, beautiful old buildings :x

Paris city hall believes that skyscrapers - albeit of a certain sort, in certain places - are just what Paris needs

Bye bye romance :((

I won't never happen again, after the mad destruction of Paris in 70s. Tour Montparnasse is enough.

Piling on such a special day I need a reading from you PLEASE :ymapplause:

We have drug problems in England:

Government pays a fortune to rehabilitate drug addicts:
it seldom works because there is no attempt to relocate the former addicts - so they leave rehabilitation centres and return to their original friends and way of life - enormous waste of money.

Government pays a fortune dealing with drug addicts health problems:
Taking illegal drugs causes many health problems - cost to health service is astronomical.

Government pays a fortune to fight crimes committed by drug addicts/dealers:
Burglaries, muggings, selling of drugs.

Government pays a fortune to keep drug dealers in prison:
Where they make even more money from other prisoners.

Government pays a fortune to house drug addicts/dealers in social housing:
Often putting entire neighbourhoods at risk.

Government does NOT pay anything to protect those living in fear in areas controlled by drug gangs:
Neither local governments or police are willing to put CCTV in areas close to suspected drug dealers - locals and neighbours of drug dealers are expected to risk their lives providing information to the police X(

We were thinking of starting a pressure group to make police and councils take more responsibility - what do you think - should we start local initiatives involving people and pushing the police to install CCTV and protect the communities ?

CCTV is better than inciting people to denounce others (always a source of troubles). CCTV is also an ethic problem concerning private life : they don't only take video of criminals…

Who in your city has the power and the right to decide to put CCTV ? In France police can not decide itself. It is a political decision, from Interior ministry I think.

So identify at first the authority which can take that decision and then you will identify where to make pressures.

I don;t know what kind of civil actions are efficient in UK for pressuring authorities (all mentalities and behavior and way of pressures are different in various countries)

Now I don't know the judiciary system in UK : If there are CCTV will police take actions against identified dealers or not ? If not, it is just a waste of money.

In fact the best way to stop that would be to make LEGAL all drugs. Then no dealers, no mafia, no gang… :D

Because I do not like drug dealers since one shot a friend on mine - people often ask me for help - I am well known as being anti-drug - the only drug I use is made by Cadbury :ymdevil:

Example: tiny block of 6 flats - police expect someone living there to inform on a neighbour - all the people have lived in fear for more than 5 YEARS - I personally spoke to the police and they will do NOTHING to protect the people X(

The police say that they need the people in the flats to provide evidence - those drug dealers are connected to others in the area - even if someone was brave enough to speak out and the police arrested the dealer immediately - the witnesses would be at the mercy of other dealers :(

There are networks of dealers on social housing estates - people on many estates live in fear - perhaps you are right the only way forward is for drugs to become legal - then if people take drugs it is their own stupid fault - as you rightly say NO dealers, NO mafia, NO gang and most important NO people pushing it to young children.

In France we have not the policy of citizens denouncing other citizens. Sarkozy's government tried but it did not work a lot : people are ready to denounce but as anonymous. Perhaps because WWII occupation period where many people denounced others to Gestapo (in anonymous letters) : dark times.

In general it is considered in France as a bad way to inform (we call it 'Crow letters).

In drug networks, dealers are the lower part of a huge network. The real masterminds are safe, elsewhere. Look at Pablo Escobar's life.

So I am sure that unbanning drugs will make these Drug Emperors naked and ruin them. Prohibition Law in USA had for result Al Capone's reign. When alcohol became legal what did happen ? Problems of alcoholism remained but no criminality, no traffic and no seller to young people. Why an ordinary shop keeper would risk prison for selling a bottle of Bourbon to a teenager for only a bunch of dollars ?

So if drugs are legal, Heroin, coke, LSD could have consequences on health but no more than alcohol or tobacco. Dangerous drugs as crack will disappear. And dealers also. A junkie is not dangerous if he can provide himself his drug. He harms himself, can have dangerous behavior by driving, but no more than a depressed person who take Xanax.

The only way to destroy criminals is to destroy their source of profit : States can't prevent drugs to be elaborated and sold, then they have to tolerate them and the laws of market will follow : big production, small profits. So Mafia will stop.

And it is NOT safe for people to inform on others especially in instances where there are only 6 flats in a block - even if anonymous letters were sent it would be obvious that someone in the block sent the letters - so they would still be at risk X(

Most governments will NEVER make drugs legal

Sometimes entire inner city estates are controlled by ARMED black drug gangs X(

What is worse is that those are often the estates where innocent refugees are sent to live :ymsick:
