Kurdî

Kecha gunda me...

Ez kechim, kecha gundanim
Kulîlka serê lawanim
Ruhana rêz û chawanim
Lawiko ez bêrîwanim

Delalê tu xwîn shirînî
Dil rekî û lêw hingivînî
Pêsh kû gava tu min bînî
Bêriyê û ez evîndarim

Lawiko evînî sherme
Gelleka ditirsim û zehmet
Evînî kûle dev me
Lawiko ez bêrîwanim

Delalê bejin ruhanê
Kulîlka heyva Gulanê
Bê te nexweshe jiyanê
Bêriyê û ez evîndarim

Lawiko were mala me
Min bixwaze û sehke kula min
Gustîlkê bike tilya min
Lawiko ez bêrîwanim

Delalê bêje bavê xwe
Min bibe dane serê xwe
Hay min bike delalê dilê xwe
Beriyê û ez evîndarim

Ez kechim, kecha gundanim
Kulîlka serê lawanim
Ruhana rêz û chawanim
Lawiko ez bêrîwanim

Delalê tu xwîn shirînî
Dil rekî û lêw hingivînî
Pêsh kû gava tu min bînî
Bêriyê ez evîndarim

English

I'm a village girl...

I'm a girl, village girl
the flower on the boys heads
The respected and loved Ruhan(a herb) (directly: the Ruhan of the respect and eyes)
Boy, I am bêrîwan

Beautiful, you are sweet (sweet blooded)
Of pure heart and honey lips
Before the time you see me
Bêriyê and I am in love

Beautiful, bejin(ain't no good English word for it, but you know what it means) ruhan
You are the flower of the month of Gulan
Life is bad without you
Bêriyê and I am in love

Boy, come to our home
Ask for my hand and watch my pain
Put the ring on my finger
Boy, I am bêrîwan

Beautiful, tell you father
Make me your queen (direct translation: Take me on your head)
Hay, make me your hearts beauty
Bêriyê and I am in love

I'm a girl, village girl
the flower on the boys heads
The respected and loved Ruhan(a herb) (directly: the Ruhan of the respect and eyes)
Boy, I am bêrîwan

Beautiful, you are sweet (sweet blooded)
Of pure heart and honey lips
Before the time you see me
Bêriyê (the things that Bêrîwan's do) and I am in love

As you may know, "Bêriyê"; means she is enacting the chores, acts and job of the Bêrîwan...

I don't like it...

IT IS AMED NOT DIYARBEKIR... :?

Who got the damn idea to adopt an ARAB name for it...?

It is like calling Hewlêr "Arbil" - and like calling Dersim "Tunceli"...

Diyar is a Kurdi name though, Diri. The Turks stole the name, added a "bakir" to it, and renamed the Kurdish capital to it. So, it worked out ironically... :?

Ha ! Ha Ha !

You think wrong my friend. The city was originally called Amed or Amida because of the Medes (Median Kurdish ancestors) who originally inhabited it. It was eventually colonized by the Romans. But later, the city was conquered and annexed to the Sassanid Dynasty (Iranian Empire) in the 4th century.

Hence, Kurds have inhabited Amed much longer than the Arabs even set foot on it...
